Mainz Central Cemetery
Maybe you have done the research and you’ve discovered a connection to Mainz or somewhere nearby. Maybe you know where your ancestors were born, where they were christened or baptized, where they lived or worked or married and maybe where they died and were buried – which might even be in the central cemetery which was established by Napoleon. Or maybe you’re stuck trying to understand a document written in German and need some help to progress. Maybe you’re planning a trip to Mainz to experience the city for yourself and want to visit the places that were important to your ancestors but don’t know where to begin. If so, then I can help you.
As an historian, I know my way around the city’s archives and I can help you find that important missing document, date or address. As a native German-speaker and translator, I can help to decipher the documents and help you discover your roots. As a Mainz local, I can take you to see what’s there today, what has survived and what might still be almost identical to when your ancestors lived there years ago. Of course, if you can’t make it to Mainz in person, then as a keen photographer I can also send you photographs to help you picture your ancestor’s world.
